How to subscribe

Send mail to majordomo@xmission.com with the words

	subscribe fractint 

in the body of the message. Then complete the confirmation after receiving the first message from the server.

How to unsubscribe

If you ever want to remove yourself from this mailing list, you can send mail to with the following command in the body of your email message:

    unsubscribe fractint

    unsubscribe fractint your-email-account-that-you-subscribed-with

Getting a Digest List

There is also a digest list. If you subscribe to fractint-digest the same way you subscribed to this list, you will get digest messages with a number of messages combined. This reduces the quantity of messages you get at the cost of the size of the message. Plus, of course, you can't post to the digest list. I can set how often the digest messages go out etc., but so far I haven't changed the default way majordomo set this up.

Contacting the list-owner

If you ever need to get in contact with the owner of the list, (if you have trouble unsubscribing, or have questions about the list itself) send email to owner-fractint@xmission.com This is the general rule for most mailing lists when you need to contact a human.

How to send a message to the list

It's very simple. Compose your message, and then e-mail it to:

     Fractint@xmission.com

It will be redistributed to a list of e-mail addresses (which includes yours) maintained at Xmission by the Majordomo mailing list software.

The Charter for the Fractint List

This mailing list is for the discussion of fractals, fractal art, fractal algorithms, fractal software, and fractal programming. Specific discussion related to the freeware MS-DOS program Fractint and it's ports to other platforms is welcome, but discussion need not be Fractint related. Technical discussion is welcome, but so are beginner's questions, so don't be shy. This is a good place to share Fractint tips, tricks, and techniques, or to wax poetic about other fractal software.

This list is closed and unmoderated. This means that only subscribers to the list can post messages, and all the messages you post go out to subscribers without advance checking by the administrator. Tim Wegner twegner@phoenix.net is the administrator.

List Utilities

The Majordomo software this mailing list uses provides a suite of convenient utilities that you can utilize. And they're as simple to use as sending e-mail. For further information, send an e-mail message to:

     majordomo@xmission.com

In the body of the e-mail message (not the subject line, which is ignored) place the simple line:

     help

An informational file will be sent back to you outlining all the available commands and functions.
