Creating Textures

I have had a few individuals inquire as to how the Textures are done on some of my images.   So just in case others may be interested, here are the steps involved when using the latest 1.03 release:

After initially starting QuaSZ, the default "TITLE" image appears, which is a Quaternion Julia using the p0; z^2+c formula, and the one that I will use for this demo.

The quickest way to add a Texture is by using a pre-defined one that has been saved.   Go to the FILE menu option of LOAD_OTHER and choose the LOAD_TEXTURE... selection.   This will give you the typical Windows popup Open window and allow the choice of any QTX file format that is available, such as the following:
        bluemarble.qtx             caverns.qtx
        brownmarble.qtx          woodgrain.qtx
        brownmarble2.qtx        woodgrain2.qtx
        camouflage.qtx             woodgrain3.qtx
These Textures should be located in the main directory path where QuaSZ was installed to.

If you wish to start from scratch, then go to the RENDER menu option of LINK_COLORING_TO_PIXEL and turn that on by selecting it.   At this point you will have many directions to go from, and the following rendering options will be available (previously greyed out):
        Atan Coloring
        Bof60 Coloring
        Potential Coloring
        Filter...
        Orbit Traps (options)
        Noise (options)
For the idea of what each Coloring option will give, try selecting each one of the first three under the RENDER menu.   After each render finishes, click the EDIT menu option of UNDO to revert back to the original image.

Now for something a little more interesting.   Under the RENDER menu choice of NOISE, select ADD_NOISE to turn that option on.   After it finishes rendering, you will now see two more option available from the NOISE option.   One of those is called FACTORS..., which when selected will give a popup window for setting values into several fields.

I have found that the BLEND field gives me results I am looking for in the range of 50 to 80.   And the GRAIN field I usually keep between 8 to 16.   But this is a matter of personal taste, so experiment with each one.   For the image we have been working with, try the following settings:
        BLEND = 90
        GRAIN = 25

Now for an even more interesting effect, let's try the last field within the NOISE FACTORS window.   Try changing the SURFACE_WARP field to a setting of 10.

Please return later as updates are made available to this QuaSZ Tutorial.
