Fractal of the Day

FOTD -- July 17, 2009   (Rating 7)

Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts:

Today's scene doesn't make it as a work of fractal art, (Since when have the FOTD images ever been art?), nor does it bring an insight into some obscure mathematical conundrum.   It simply shows some elephants pieces gathering into finished elephants.

Now don't expect full-blown elephants to appear when you run the parameter file.   The elephants in today's image are little more than their disembodied trunks.   But the rest of the ponderous beasts are there, at least in spirit, faithfully mounting guard over their shrunken Z^(1.5)+C buds.

The parent fractal is the Z^(1.5)+C Mandeloid as it appears 24 levels up the complex logarithmic hyper-spiral.   Today's scene is located in a rudimentary East Valley that lies on the X-axis.

I rated the image, for those who care, at a 7, which is FOTD average.   The name "Just Getting Started" refers to the elephants, which are just now getting their act together.

The calculation time of 1-1/6 minutes will pass in a jiffy.   The time might seem a bit longer for those desperately impatient to see the image.   These desperate few may view the image already calculated on the FOTD web site at:
Summer finally arrived here at Fractal Central on Thursday as the temperature rose to 91F 33C and the sun sizzled down.   The fractal cats paid no heed to the hot weather, spending the day in front of the living room fan.   My day was as quiet as might be hoped but busy enough to keep financial worries at bay.   The next FOTD will be posted in 24 hours.   Until then, take care, and why are there trillions of trillions of stars in the universe yet only one of each one of us?
